When I was a teenager I remember how excited I was to take a bus by myself to my sister home in Tel Aviv so I can sleep there and make her kids makeup for Purim, the Jewish version of Halloween. It was obvious when I will have kids that they will be my living manikins.
Here are a few costumes Ideas that I made during the years, the older they got the crazier it gets although I’m in looking for new project since my 10 year old just resigned after last Halloween telling me it’s the last Halloween they want to dress up. I’m still negotiation....
Sheep
This is a great costume for a newborn, its warm fussy and they will (usually) let you take great pictures since they will fall back asleep.
Just ay them down gently on a warm comfy bed with white beddings and great lighting and take all the pictures you want.

Cleopatra
When you are in a rush a costume from the store is a great get. All you need to make it your is great make up, good quality wig and lending your earrings to your daughter who promises not to lose them (yeah right).

Indian Sari
As soon as I saw this amazing fabric in the store I had to get it. Even if you don’t know how to saw great, it is easy to make, as the shape is tube. Decorated the edges with golden lining and glue. Add some earrings from your jewelry box and you got your self a beautiful sari costume.

Rocker
I always say that the costume has to match the personality to make it more realistic. When Mia was born with that bubbly personality of hers, I knew that I cant send her as a princess to school Halloween party. I found my older daughter AC/DC shirt, added some leather leggings and black converse. Hair was simple. We put some fake tattoos and all we had to create is a cardboard guitar, which I covered with tape that had fire pattern. Mia faces completed the outfit.

Audrey Hepburn
Mia got older and started to show some girly signs. Audrey Hepburn is such an icon that I had to make it happen. Dress used to be Hailey’s and now it fits Mia, This Juicy Couture dress is priceless as I used it so many times and both girls wore it to many events. I got my pearls, some great shades and just got Mia a tiara. She won first place in town for cutest costume and for 2 months kept saying that her name is Audrey Hepburn.

faDon’t cry over spilled milk
When I was informed that there is a costume competition and the theme is phrases my mind started racing. One frase I live by is “don’t cry over spilled milk” or at least try to. I created a milk carton that will look just like the one from Israel, got my matching girls outfits that were originally for Alice in wonderland costume.

Clown
I’m sure all moms especially working moms had those morning when you wake up and found out it is a special day in school which you forgot about. It was clown day for me (among others). I looked quickly though my daughter’s closets and put a white tank top, red strip leggings and Dr. martins together. I found mini mouse that I was forced into buying in Disney, which were a nice touch. Pulled up the make up to create a clown face.
